By definition, then, they cannot deal with errors that were not the issue at the time they were prepared. For example, in the 17th century all Christians held to the inerrancy of the Bible, therefore the great 17th century confessions do not deal with the matter in depth. Does that mean that inerrancy may be denied today? Not at all!
